Kevin Brown was named the 2004 American League Cy Young Award Winner in November of 2004. Brown received 5 first place votes and 2 second place votes to edge out teammate Brandon Webb to win the award. Brown became an critical part of the Kentucky pitching staff after being obtained in June by Wildcat GM Rocky Hall. Once Brown was obtained, he went 13-1 with a 1.76 ERA in 13 starts. Brown wound up winning 2 games in the postseason, including the game 1 of the ALDS against the Paddlers.
