Bringin' the Thunder

June 18, 2007 11:00pm

Bringin' The Thunder! Part May of June...

The May Power Alley has come out and it is of no surprise that the Kentucky Wildcats are sittin' on top of the mountain looking down at all of us. I gotta ask the question:   How in the world did they get all that pitching? looking at Kentucky's rotation makes me ill.

1.Arroyo (DMB 3.58 era 10-4)
2.Rogers (DMB 3.09 era 6-7)
3.Webb (DMB 2.68 era 13-4)
4.Garland (DMB 4.76 era 6-5)
5.Clemens (DMB 3.73 era 6-3)

You've got to be kidding me! The Wildcats may have the best staff ever assembled in a large DMB Fantasy league. My mission will be to find out exactly how the Wildcats did it!

The Wildcats seem to be more anxious to trade than the 10 year old with a new set of Topps! The Wildcats do seem to come out on top in just about every transaction.  Look at these trades:

In 2007...In 46 Trade Transactions the Wildcats were involved in 16.
  • California Gladiators give Cla Meredith, Rafael Soriano and CAL Rd 8 to the Kentucky Wildcats for FLA Rd 2, MIC Rd 3 and MAD Rd 3 (Hey I needed the picks!)
  • Kentucky Wildcats give KEN RD 2 and Mark DeRosa to the Carefree Coyotes for Huston Street (Now he has Cla Meredith and Huston Street!)

  • Beartooth Bitteroots give Eric Chavez, Mike Gonzalez, BEA Rd 9 and BEA Rd 10 to the Kentucky Wildcats for KEN Rd 1 and KEN Rd 3 (Note Mike Gonzalez' great numbers)

In 2006...In 44 Trade Transactions the Wildcats were involved in 14.

  • Chemung Crawdads give Roger Clemens to the Kentucky Wildcats for Lastings Milledge, Brad Radke and KEN RD 1 (Looks like he gave up a lot here, but not really....He gave up a LOW first round pick to get Clemens who might have gone #1, very shrewd!)

In 2005...In 18 Trade Transactions the Wildcats were involved in 6.

  • The Kentucky Wildcats give KEN Rd 2 and KEN Rd 5 to the Jersey Damage Inc for Reggie Sanders and Jon Garland (Nice pick-up!)

  • The Kentucky Wildcats give Larry Bigbie to the Chemung Crawdads for Greg Maddux (another pitcher... I see the trend!)

  • The Newark Eagles give Bronson Arroyo, G. Mota, Keith Foulke, and Shingo Takatsu to the Kentucky Wildcats for Ken RD 1, Ric RD 1, Fla RD 1, Greg Maddux, Octavio Dotel, Joe Valentin, Ryan Vogelsong.

So we know this guy is the trader-joe-jack-of-all-trades master. So after evaluating the trades I went and looked at his draft choices. Does this guy have a crystal ball or what? In 2007 his first choice (24th overall pick) was Sean Marshall. Anyone know this guy has a microscopic era and a WHIP around 1.00? I know the Cubs know! In 2006 he drafted Anibel Sanchez late in the third round, didnt that guy throw a no-hitter? So what do I see? The proof seems to be in the trading, so to speak. Using draft picks as currency to get players that would be drafted higher than those picks seems to be a great method! Also, this guy knows how to pick the ripe fruit. Simply amazing. As the guy in 24th place, I think I need to read this guy's book!
