THUNDER BAY, NJ -- The Chemung Crawdads won their first Thunder Bay Championship in convincing fashion defeating the Jersey Damage Inc. four games to one.  3B David Wright was named Most Valuable Player, going 8 for 20 with 4 doubles and 4 runs scored in the five games.   Jose Reyes also played well, batting .412 with 2 stolen bases in the series.  BJ Ryan had 3 saves and threw hitless baseball in his 3 appearances.  Congratulations to Brendan and his Chemung Crawdads on a terrific season and his first TBBL Championship.

Game 1 - Jersey takes game one 5-4 behind clutch hitting of David Ortiz and Jacque Jones.  Lackey went 7 innings of 3 run ball allowing Shields to close it out.  David Wright had 3 hits in the loss for Chemung.

Game 2 - Chemung wins a great game 3-2 in 11 innings.  Blanco's pinch hit single in the 11th scored Crawford and the Chemung pen threw 3 2/3 innings on one hit ball.  Reyes was 2 for 4 and Haren had 7 K's in 7.1 innings.  Giambi and Ortiz homered for Jersey.

Game 3 - Jeremy Sowers was a one man show as Chemung defeated Jersey 8-3 to take control of the series.  Sowers was 3 for 4 with 3 RBI's at the plate, breaking the backs of Jersey with his double in the 4th inning.  Sowers also went 7 innings allowing just 3 runs en route to the win.  Ortiz and Jones homered again but it wasn't enough.

Game 4 - Chemung scored 4 runs in the first two innings and it was all but over.  David Wright had 2 doubles while Reyes had 3 hits.  Bullpen was nearly perfect again allowing just one run in 3+ innings.

Game 5 - Derek Jeter's 2 run homer in the 7th was the crushing blow as Chemung won the game and took the series 4 games to 1.  MVP David Wright had 2 more hits and BJ Ryan closed out the bats of Jersey in the 9th.  Champagne was flowing in the clubhouse as owner Brendan McCormick was quoted as saying, "this is our first championship in our DMB career."  The Crawdads look to be loaded for many years to come and will be a tough opponent of all National League teams in 2008.
