The Colorado Gladiators headed into 2014 with high hopes and delivered.  The 104 wins are a franchise best and are led by MVP Candidate Chris Davis.  The Gladiators were 8-4 against the Oil Barons in 2014 and have never met in post season.  This is Colorado's 2nd post season appearance (2012) and are looking to jump out fast against a very good Houston team.

The Houston Oil Barons are making their 7th trip to the post season and are looking to knock off a 100 win team.  The team is balanced and has one of the best SP in baseball on the mound.  Will Houston go with a 3 man rotation to utilize Felix and will they contain Puig and company?
Prediction:  Colorado in 7 games  (Actual COL in 5 games)

I think it goes the distance and to be honest is a toss up.  Home field gets the nod in this one.

Colorado Gladiators win their round 1 series, 4 games to 1, in a head to head matchup  vs the Houston Oil Barons.

Gm 1: Colorado 6 Houston 2  in Coors Field, Colorado

Shane Victorino strikes HUGE blow, 3-run shot in the first. Hisashi Iwakuma and King Felix duel, pitch-for-pitch 'til 8th. Trevor Plouffe's homer in 8th off of Ty Clippard draws Houston to 3-2 but, Gladiators break it open with 3-spot in 9th, Jaun Uribe banging in 2 with a single.

Gm2: Colorado 13 Houston 2  in Coors Field, Colorado

Glads jump all over, and chase, starter AJ Burnett in the 3rd, then get all over long man Phil Hughes as well. 10-0 Gladiators after three frames. Light-hitting Gregor Blanco's 3-run double was the biggest dagger here. The Gladiators then coast to the win behind 7  strong innings from Ervin Santana.

Gm3: Colorado 10 Houston 5  in Progressive Field, Cleveland

Series shifts to Clevelend park, Houston jumps up 2-0 lead but, Puig and Quentin smack 2-run hits as Colorado plates 6 in the 3rd inning. Gladiators coast to 3-0 series lead lead, Lackey goes 6 for the win. Yan Gomes homers twice for Houston

Gm 4: Houston 4 Colorado 1    in Progressive Field, Cleveland

Felix Hernandez pitches like the ace that he is, insuring that Houston doesn't go down in a sweep. King goes 7 fantastic innings. Michael Cuddyer hits a 2-run blast and plates 3 for the Oil Barons in the win

Gm 5: Colorado 14 Houston 1   in Progressive Field, Cleveland

Colorado plates 3 in the 3rd, 4 in the 4th, and 3 more in the 5th to put this game, and the series, in the pocket early. Puig goes deep, old man Ethier has 4 knocks, and Crush Davis breaks out of a 1 -15 slump (with 10 Ks) to blast 2 long bombs late in the contest. Santana goes 6 for his second W of the series.

Colorado moves on take on the mighty San Antone' Saints in round 2. Thanks to Scott Felt for being a good sport in a tough series. Good luck next year Scott and, thank you for playing M'man.
