The Los Angeles Halos might be the wildcard of this entire post season.  Their apparent fire sale turned near division winner routine have them poised to make a run deep into the American League.  Dallas Keuchel and Tyson Ross might need to win 2 games each and Jason Heyward will be a crucial piece of the offense.  The Halos manager is a savvy veteran as well.

The Jersey Damage won 96 games but are clearly disappointed considering the high hopes the team had coming in.  The offense did its job but the starting pitching failed to live up to the billing.  The pen could be used "excessively" in this series.  Look for Andrew Millers (0.56 ERA), Brad Zieglers (0.65 ERA), Mark Melancons (2.29 ERA) and Aroldys Chapmans (2.68 ERA) arms to fall off if this goes 7.
Prediction:  Jersey in 6 games (Correct!)

Ortiz goes off and hits 5 HRs!  Then MLB Drug Testing catches up with him.

The Jersey Damage came into the series as an underdog to the Los Angeles Halos but managed to squeak out a series win 4 games to 2.  Sonny Gray was the MVP of the series winning 2 games while Mark Teixiera of Los Angeles nearly won the series for LA all by himself.  Teixeira later found out he was not on the 27-man keeper list of the Halos for 2017 and promptly declared himself a free agent heading into the off season.

Game 1: LAH 8, JER 2:

The Yankee connection for the Halos took charge of this game early with HR by Teixiera and Brett Gardner and cruised to an easy 8-2 win.  Dallas Keuchel stynmied the bats of Jersey allowing just 4 hits as LAH took a 1-0 series lead.  Jordan Zimmermann of Jersey gave up 7 earned runs and Aroldys Chapman served up a Tex Message that put the game out of reach.

W-Keuchel, L- Zimmermann

Game 2:  JER 7, LAH 2

Jersey turned to Sonny Gray for game 2 in Los Angeles and while he struggled with command pitched well enough to earn the win and even the series at one game each.  Shelby Miller of LAH took the loss lasting just 3 innings.  Andrew Miller and Hunter Strickland closed out the game with 2.2 scoreless innings and homers from David Ortiz and Adam Jones were enough offense for Jersey.

W-Gray L- Miller

Game 3: JER 4, LAH 3

The pivotal game of the series was possibly the best one as Jersey squeaked out a 4-3 win to take a 2-1 series lead.  Tyson Ross started for LAH and despite not giving up a hit was pulled in the 2nd inning in favor of a lefty-lefty match up which worked out for LA as Andrew Chafin went 2 scoreless innings.  Teixiera hot another homer and LA enjoyed a 3-2 lead heading into the 6th inning.  Franklin Gutierrez and Brandon Belt doubles tied the game at 3 setting up David Ortiz 8th inning HR as the difference maker.  Andrew Miller and Mark Melancon shut down the Halos in the 8th and 9th inning preserving the win.

Game 4: JER 4, LAH 1

Jersey turned to LHP Gio Gonzlaez for game 4 and he responded with 6 innings of one run ball en route to getting the win.  Franklin Gutierrez was 3 for 3 including a homer and Adam Wainwright and Aroldys Chapman closed out the last 3 innings giving Jersey a 3 games to 1 lead.

 W- Gonzalez, L-Rodriguez, S-Chapman

Game 5: LAH 5, JER 3

Facing elimination, Los Angeles turned to Keuchel again and Dallas delivered with 7 scoreless innings  Kuechel had the Jersey batters off balance all night and the Halos withstood a late rally by Jersey to hold on and send the series back to Los Angeles.  Francisco Cervelli had 3 hits and Hector Ronbon closed the game out in the 9th.

W- Keuchel, L-Zimmermann, S-Rondon

Game 6: JER 4, LAH 0

Sonny Gray threw 3 hit ball over 6 innings and Wainwright and Miller closed out the Halos for the series win.  The Jersey offense all came in one inning which started with a Nelson Cruz homer and ended with Salvador Perez's only hit of the series (a 2 run homer).

W- Gray, L-Miller

Thanks to Greg for playing H2H and congratulations on a great season.  Jersey now faces off with the Colorado Gladiators as Casey is looking to make it back to the ALCS.
