The 2015 All Star Game
Great American Ballpark, Cincinnati - The 2015 All Star Game was played under threatening skies in Cincinnati. OH on Monday, July 13th amid controversy as usual.  This year, the All Star Teams were managed by former Red adversaries Lou Pinella and Rob Dibble.  Back in the late 80's, Dibble and Pinella threw down after a Reds game and neither manager or player were ever the same after the altercation.  Former Reds manager Pete Rose had wagered $5,000 on Pinella but the decision was a draw and Rose lost out on his bet and eventually was seen signing autographs near the Cooperstown the following July.  Reds management went through a series of change after the brawl and the 2015 ASG was the first time either player/coach had returned to Cincy.  The controversy occurred when Pinella and Dibble approached home plate for the umpire meeting and to exchange lineup cards.  Norm Charlton, a former Nasty Boy ripped off his shirt and jumped over the CF wall and raced in and  attacked both men.  Police were called and it took nearly 12 minutes to clear the ruckus before the game could begin.  Charlton was being held in the Stadium jail while Pinella and Dibble were taken to separate hospitals in the area.

As for the game, it wasn't Chris Sale's night.  The Toronto Crown Royal was the only American League pitcher to give up any runs and was tagged with the loss.  Jhonny Peralta lined a double to the gap scoring both Beltre and Encarnacion and Chase Utley followed up with a sacrifice fly to give the National League a 3-1 lead which would eventually hold up.  Roenis Elias earned the victory despite giving up a run earlier in the 5th inning and Craig Kimbrel closed the door in the 9th not allowing a base runner.  Mike Trout of Mad City and Starling Castro of Toronto were the only players who played the entire game. 

Peralta was named MVP and the National League now leads the all-time All Star Game series 7-5.
