THUNDER BAY, NJ -- The 2008
Thunder Bay Baseball Draft takes place via email starting in
January of 2008. The Colorado Gladiators own the first
pick of the draft and are perhaps looking to move the pick for a
few prospects. The Las Vegas Diamonds own the second pick
of the draft, followed by the Fort Wayne Komets.

"Coming into the TBBL we think we have a chance
to be competitive soon, trades are coming." |

The Colorado Gladiators really struggled in 2007, both on the
field and off the field with usage. The owner quit after he was
penalized for over usage, and a new owner was found and the pick
has been reinstated. Many insiders believe the Gladiators will be making some big
moves in the trade market this winter. Owner Casey Siller
sure has made a splash in the Bunt League when it comes to
trades. He may have set the all time mark for most deals
in a season. Will that continue in the TBBL? Only
time will tell.
The teams best player is Hanley
Ramirez, a player who may be on the move if the price is right.
Chris Young has the making of an ace for the future, but the
Gladiators have many holes that need filling. The Diamonds
may also be looking to acquire some picks this year. Diamonds owner was overheard
saying, "If we can get a good package, we can make some progress
in 2008. But our players won't come cheap." Roy
Halladay has already been dealt, acquiring All Star catcher
Brian McCann for the ace.
The Komets
are looking good for 2008 with players like Curtis Granderson,
JJ Hardy, Rickie Weeks, Gil Meche and Tom Gorzelanny in the fold
and signed to long term contracts. The lone tie for
seeding purposes among non playoff teams was
between Beartooth and Carefree. Based on Division Record,
Carefree (37-53) gets the 5th pick and Beartooth (42-48) gets
the 6th. |
