2006 American League Sub Division Series

THUNDER BAY, NJ -- The Jersey Damage Inc. defeated the Lincoln Tunnel Rats 4 games to 1 in the best of seven ALSDS.  The series turned on a key 13 inning game 3, a game in which Jersey won with 2 in the top half of the 13th.  During the game, left handed reliever Brian Shackelford was torched for 3 runs in 2/3 of an inning, inflating his ERA to 20.25.  Shackelford was in the middle of a bench clearing brawl in the 5th and final game which may result in heavy suspensions and or fines from the Commissioners office.  With two outs in the top of the 9th inning of game 5, Shackelford hammered Jason Giambi (.308-1-2) with a pitch causing Giambi to charge the mound.  Jason landed two punches to Shackelford's face before being tackled by Jason Kendall.  Lincoln first basemen Todd Helton (.150-0-2), who was frustrated during the series by the Jersey pitching blind sided 85 year old bench coach Don Zimmer, which further infuriated the Jersey team.  After order was restored, Jersey won the game 6-0 behind series MVP Jason Schmidt (2-0, 0.60 ERA).  Fans should expect to see more of this feud in 2007.
