2005 American League Championship Series

THUNDER BAY, NJ -- The 2005 American League Championship Series' will feature the defending World Series Champion Richmond Rockers and the Florida Devils.  Both teams played in the American League East this season.  The Rockers won 15 of 23 games against the Devils in 2005, but as the Devils proved in the ALDS, anything can happen.  nd team with the most wins in the TBBL in 2005, the Kentucky Wildcats taking on the Florida Devils.  The Devils, who had a big lead in the American League East earlier this season, limped into the playoffs despite making a blockbuster trade in July.  Coming to the Devils was Alex Rodriquez, who struggled initially when asked to move back to his original position of SS.  Alex hit just .192 in his first 26 games with the Devils, smacking only 2 HR and driving in 11 runs.  The Devils have an ace of their own in Jason Schmidt, despite struggling a bit this year.  Schmidt, 14-10 with a 4.03 ERA is expected to get the ball three times in the series (if it goes 7 games).  The Rockers will throw Pedro Martinez (12-12, 3.39 ERA) in the series opener.  Richmond has a balanced offensive attack, led by David "Big Papi" Ortiz.  The Rockers hit just 3 homers in the ALDS, but managed to score 30 runs in their sweep of the Smackdown.  Two quality managers will do battle in this exciting series.
