2005 National League Division Series

THUNDER BAY, NJ -- The 2005 National League West Division Series' will match up two division rivals, the West winning San Francisco Seals and one of the most improved Thunder Bay teams, the Beartooth Bitteroots.  The Seals held on the the West title, largely due to 1B Albert Pujols (.313-42-139).  Pujols won the MVP Award in 2004, and is in the running again in 2005.  Overusage plagues the Seals, and may play a part in the postseason.  Several players were overused, and thus not eligible for the postseason.  The Bitteroots surprised many owners this year with their xx game improvement from 2004.  Beartooth's strength comes from their starters, Oliver Perez (10-9, 4.87) and Kris Benson (15-8, 3.93).  Te bullpen is just as strong, with Mike Gonzalez (16 saves) closing the door.  Eric Chavez leads the offense for Beartooth and plays a solid 3B.  Chavez made just 13 errors in 2005, and is expected to take home another gold glove.  The series should come down to who hits the best.
